Our Initiatives
At Esperanza de la Selva Ancestral Medical Center, we aim to bring hope to the Shipibo indigenous community in Peru. Your donations empower us to support various projects that enhance their well-being.
Kid's Community Cleanup
With an initiative to teach the children of the community valuable lessons, we held our first kids’ community cleanup celebration. Teaching the children the importance of caring for their environment, their community, and nature is part of the main idea behind this event, but let's not forget the importance of teaching them how to have a good, responsible, fun time! This is why we cleaned up over 50 bags of trash from the entire community. They enjoyed snacks before having a water balloon fight and picking up our biodegradable balloon trash after the war ended and peace began again.
This was one of our favorites so far, for sure, because it's planting two trees with one seed. The donations we received from our fellow "Hope Givers" were put to use by caring for the children and investing in their future by giving them the supplies they'll need for their basic school year.
Future projects include our English Language Class Initiative, which aims to provide hope and valuable skills to those in the community by allowing them to learn English. However, the Big Bang of hope from this project stems from the ability to learn English in their 1st language of Shipibo instead of trying to learn a 3rd language in their 2nd language and allowing learning invaluable skills such as a 3rd language to many of the children in the community.
Christmas Toy & Food Drive
2023 was the second year we have been able to provide hope and joy to the children of the community during Christmas. With the donations that were given, we were able to give them some sweets, some food, some games and celebrations, and some gifts for their Christmas—all things that many, if not all, of these children, would have missed out on each year due to their financial situation.
Community Water Tower
Construction of a water tower that supplies the water needed for families in the community and the maintenance of the plants and foods that support the Clinic/Healing portion of Esperanza de la Selva Ancestral Medical Center.
